What inspired you to write The Underworld Adventures?
I’ve had many influences that have lead to this series, but honestly, I just sat down one day and began writing – it really was that simple. I’ve always enjoyed reading and writing. They give me an opportunity to escape the daily pressures and stresses of life. My real goal as an author is to help my readers find a little bit of serenity and a break from everyday life.
Are you reflected in any of the characters of your books?
That is a frequent question I get, and it’s hard to answer. I see a bit of myself in all the characters, but none of them were modeled on me. I mean, if I modeled them entirely on me then my readers would bored to death!
When will the second and third books in the series be complete?
I’m working diligently on them now so they will be done as soon as humanly possible! I’m also thinking about extending The Underground Adventures to a fourth book called The Guide based on everyone’s favorite scruffy little terrier, Max.
Many authors struggle with the business side of writing, do you?
No, I actually enjoy the business side a great deal. Having an MBA background and being a former hospital CEO of some large businesses, obviously gave me a lot of experience in business. Unfortunately, a lot of authors have never had much, if any, exposure to the disciplines of business and marketing and they struggle with it.
Will you write books beyond the Underworld Adventures?
Absolutely! I am currently working on an adult fiction-thriller and will release it upon completion of Book 3 of the Underworld Adventures. So it’s down the road about a year, but it will be coming! Keep watching the website for updates or sign up HERE to be on my email list.
What do you do when not writing?
Everything! I love to try new things. My main interests are spending time with my wife and Chihuahuas, riding my horse, exercising, hiking, flying airplanes, and of course, reading.
Are you available for speaking engagements?
Definitely. I love to speak and interact with fellow readers. I enjoy discussing writing, being an executive and leader, or how to handle career changes to name a few topics.
What advice would you give to someone trying to determine what he or she wants to be when they grow up like you did?
Try everything. Don’t limit yourself. Don’t be trapped by the comfort of a salary or secure position. Life is too short to not be happy. Find what it is that makes you happy and do it – don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
